Summering at River Tree Arts
Our summer programs are in full swing. Thank you to all those who have been spending their summer days with us! So far we have hosted these camps: Ukulele Rock Band, Song-Writing, Sewing Beach Bags, Dance, World of Wonder, Mad Science, Mural Mania and Painting Pallette. Adult programs have included: Stone Setting, Sewing Beach Bags, and Ceramics. See how much fun we have!

Save the date for the River Tree Arts 6th Annual 100 x 100 Fundraiser. This festive, not-to-be-missed event showcases 100 works of art by local artists priced at $100 each.

WANDERING WATERCOLORS

Join us as we get out of the studio and into nature for a 6 week watercolor painting class led by Russel Whitten. Each week, class will be held offsite at a picturesque location around town.

SEWING: Toss Pillows

Freshen up your guest room, or make a personalized gift with Maine-made throw pillows. In this workshop, you will make a simple toss pillow from a selection of nautical/summery Maine made canvas fabrics. No experience required.

Seascape Painting

This workshop will explore color theory through acrylic painting. We will apply value and depth in our seascapes through a variety of techniques. Our unique palettes will be inspired by the sea.



THEATER CAMP: Funny Fairy Tales
July 29 –  Aug 2: Monday through Friday, 9am – 12pm

What if Cinderella didn’t actually want to go to the ball? Did Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming actually live happily ever after? We will act out hilarious retellings of classic fairytales in this fun class! There will be a final performance for friends and family on Friday. 

THEATER CAMP: Fairy Tale Sing-a-ling
July 29 –  Aug 2: Monday through Friday, 1pm - 4pm

Do you love to sing?  Then this is the class for you!  In this class, we will sing a fun collection of songs from some of your favorite fairytales including songs from Frozen, Tangled, the Little Mermaid, Moana, and more!  There will be a final performance for friends and family on Friday. 

T-Shirt Up-Cycle 1-Day Camp
August 5: Monday, 9am – 3pm

Turn that old shirt into something new and fun! From a flag or blanket, to a purse or a skirt, make something fun from your old shirts. No experience needed. Fee: $75 (members $65)

Oceanic Printmaking

Join us for a printmaking workshop that explores a variety of printing techniques such as Gelli plate, collograph, and relief printing. We will draw inspiration from all of elements the ocean has to offer: sea creatures, underwater plant life and beautiful patterns.

World of Wonder: The Meeting of the Mighty
August 19 – 23: Monday through Friday, 9am – 12pm

This is a new, creative theatre program that will be improvisational and all about ensemble building. We welcome all levels of experience. On the first day, each participant brings costume and props related to their favorite mythological god. We will form an ensemble as we write our own play that will include everyone’s god character. Opportunities for musicians, dancers, and artists. Performing our work in progress will be an option at the end of the week on Friday at 12 PM. 



Drawing Club

In this class, we will experiment with many fun drawing games and exercises to spark your creativity.  Scribble drawing, sketching, character drawing, still life and more!  You will use what you learn from these activities to create your own collection of work. 



Story Book Journey
August 20 – 22: Tues – Thurs, 1pm – 4pm
Grades entering 2+

Write and illustrate your storybook from scratch! Students will journey from raw ideas, sketches, and first drafts to finished stories and full color drawings. We will gather inspiration by studying the works of Marice Sendak, JK Rowling, Dr. Seuss and many more favorites. This class will build skills in writing, drawing, design, process, and problem solving.

Mad Science Camp: Brixology and Engineering Camp
July 29 - Aug 2: Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm
Ages 6-12

Led by the Mad Science Team
LOCATION: RIVER TREE ARTS
Get ready for the Bridges, Bricks, Blast-Off Brigade! Campers step into the shoes of engineers in this Mad Science FUN’gineered camp full of rockets, wacky machines, flying devices, roller coasters, and BRICKS! We have merged 2 days of our BRIXOLOGY program with 3 days of our “Adventures in Engineering” Camp to inspire our next generation of engineers in mechanical, structural, aerospace, and nautical engineering.  Fee: $275
