UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS (UAF) is a Land, Sea, and Space Grant university and international center for research, education and the arts, emphasizing the circumpolar North and its diverse peoples. UAF integrates teaching, research, and public service as it educates students for active citizenship and prepares them for lifelong learning and careers. The Fairbanks campus is the statewide university system’s principal research center. Internationally respected research institutes provide students with an opportunity to see research in action and participate in research activities. UAF research in arctic biology, engineering, geophysics, supercomputing, and Alaska Native studies is renowned worldwide. UAF ranks in the top 11 of more than 10,000 institutions worldwide for a number of citations in climate change publications. More than 80% of the university’s research is directly related to Alaska. UAF is the flagship campus of the University of Alaska System, which boasts seven campuses across the state and more than 8,500 students from around the world. The University of Alaska Anchorage joined the NAI and formed the UAA Chapter in 2018.
TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY (TAU) came into being through the dedicated efforts of visionaries who foresaw the need for an additional university in Israel’s rapidly growing central region. Conceptualized in the 1950s, TAU became a world-class university and achieved the goals set by its founders by the 1970s. TAU dedicated the next 30 years to maintaining its high standards, developing its research and teaching facilities, expanding its community initiatives and enhancing the significant role it plays vis-à-vis Israeli society and the Jewish Diaspora. TAU is now Israel’s largest and most comprehensive institution of higher learning, with over 30,000 students studying across nine faculties, 32 schools and 98 departments.
