Collaboration is the Name
of the MOTHERLOAD Game
As you can see from the growing lists above, our screening tour is gaining serious momentum and fans of MOTHERLOAD are getting creative about where/how/with whom they are hosting these events. Collaborations are evolving between bike businesses, government entities, and advocacy groups. Film festivals are establishing partnerships with local bike coalitions and even beer pubs. Long-time backer James Szypula of the Japanese Cycling Embassy has connected with two other local MOTHERLOAD fans to get the film translated and subtitled so they can share it with Japanese audiences and even at a cargo bike-powered outdoor screening!
Last night I attended a community screening hosted by Blue Heron Bikes in Albany, CA (the crowd gathers above). This was a benefit for Bike East Bay, they sold over 100 tickets, the audience loved the film, and we had a great discussion. I was excited to meet a woman from the Oakland Public Library who’s interested in programming MOTHERLOAD shows at a few different libraries in Oakland! I realized there are probably libraries all over the country that have the space, the equipment, maybe a budget, and most definitely a mission to educate their constituents.
Pro tip: Reach out to your local LIBRARIAN—she might just be the quietly subversive superheroine MOTHERLOAD needs!
