This is the 10th weekly newsletter for Phase 3 of the Runway 9/27 Reconstruction project at the Duluth International Airport (DLH). The purpose of the weekly newsletters will be to provide updates throughout the project regarding construction impacts, runway closures, temporary runway conditions, and other information as needed. Earlier versions of the newsletters will be made available upon request. As a result of limited participation in the weekly tenant GoTo Meeting updates, future meetings are cancelled. However, at any time, you may request a construction update by contacting the project contacts listed in this newsletter.
Runway 9/27 Construction Progress
This week of construction has primarily consisted of the installation of the aggregate base layer, created by crushing the concrete that previously made up Runway 9/27. Following the placement of the material, it has been graded and compacted in an effort to achieve the required density. Also taking place this week was conduit installations for the new runway edge lights and signs, as well as the center-line lighting conduit for Taxiway A5. Due to the Duluth Airshow this weekend, construction will be on hold from today through Sunday, July 21st. Enjoy the airshow!
