NASA to Host First-Ever Event at Texas Motor Speedway
Racers to Run Full 2.32-Mile Roval, While HPDE and TT Drivers Run Very Fast Infield Course
Fort Worth, Texas, July 17, 2019—Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) is among the biggest and fastest track facilities in North America. For the first time ever, the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) will be running at TMS, making NASA one of a select few road race groups to run at the super speedway. Racers, Time Trialers, and HPDE drivers alike will get an all-new venue to run at, as they sample the big stage.
“It’s hard to believe this is NASA’s first time at TMS,” said Will Faules, NASA Texas Regional Director. “It’s an amazing facility, and I’m sure our racers and HPDE/TT drivers are going to love it. It’s a rare treat to be able to race at a track that some of the best drivers in the world have run on.”
Racers will run on the 2.32-mile roval with a chicane included on the front straight. Still, this will likely be the fastest track that NASA Texas has ever gone to. Speeds of over 170 mph are possible, depending on type of car. HPDE and Time Trial are going to enjoy the 1.07-mile infield course. It’s very fast and because it’s a “short course,” drivers will be able to log some serious laps to better perfect their driving.
“We’re thrilled to have NASA for their debut event at Texas Motor Speedway,” said Eddie Gossage, Texas Motors Speedway president. “It’s not often we have serious road racing at TMS, but we love seeing the sports cars mix it up.”
Because of the outstanding facilities, NASA will be able to offer 75 garages that will include pit space for trucks and trailers, along with a separate garage bathroom. The TMS RV lot has ample space, and rentals will be available as well.
Registration opens to all drivers Thursday July 18 at noon central time. Information on pricing and tentative schedule can be found at NASA’s event registration page here: https://nasaproracing.com/events/3056.
