CRCA members and neighbors,

All trees could use a drink, but any tree that has been planted in the past 5 years will be especially stressed by the heat that we are experiencing.   

Here are two easy ways to water your trees:

• Take a 5 gallon bucket with a 1/4" hole drilled in the bottom, set it next to the tree, and fill the bucket with water each day.
• Place a hose at the base of a tree and leave it on a slow drip for about an hour or so. The goal is to slowly saturate the soil without the water running off down the street. 

If neither of these methods is viable, carry at least 3 buckets of cool water and slowly poor it onto the soil around the tree.

If you have trees on your property, they may need a good drink, too.

Rain is predicted but of course there is no guarantee. It’s hard to give too much water in this kind of heat.

Make a note for yourself to do this again through the rest of the summer, every week if there hasn’t been a good long rain storm.
