2019 WHERE HAVE YOU GONE!?

As we bid August farewell, it's almost impossible to believe that we are nearing the end of 2019! With only four months left to go, and so much left to do, we hope you are looking forward to the holidays as we are.

WE CELEBRATED WOMEN'S MONTH

To the wonder that are “WOMEN”, we salute your existence that creates, nurtures and sustains, for you are the real architects of society.

We honour and celebrate all the powerful, strong women who have come and gone before us, those who are fighting silent battles we know nothing about but who continue to push on with determination, those who love us and take care of us daily and those who are beautiful and unique in their own way.

We appreciate you!

EXCITING NEWS!

We are excited to announce that Woodstock will be having LPR cameras installed very soon!

License Plate Recognition camera’s (LPR) is a technology that uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle registration plates to create vehicle location data. It can automatically recognize a vehicle license plate’s number and other related information using the technology of license plate position tracking, character segmentation and character recognition.

The benefits of installing LPR cameras include the flagging of unusual or suspicious vehicles that flood in and out of the area as well as alerting the relevant role players when noticed. They are also extremely successful at locating stolen vehicles, especially those that are reported immediately before the car has long left the area.

These new LPR cameras will be placed at all major entrances and exits to Woodstock and all data will be monitored by the WID control room.

This will continue to improve the safety and security of our community and of the general public.

LIVE TO LOVE INITIATIVE

The Live to Love programme is a church-based youth and community development programme that works in partnership with local schools and other NGOs to teach basic life skills to children from various age groups. The programme also focuses on outreach activities such as serving soup to the homeless and giving out clothes to those in need. They also have holiday programmes available through a church called Grace Chapel.

On 13 May 2019, the Live to Love team partnered with the Woodstock Improvement District cleaning team for a cleanup project  – mainly focusing on cleaning the Town Hall park so that the community is able to have a safe and clean area for the children to play. The Grace chapel fully supports this cause and would like to have more programmes in this park as it is close to their church. They would like to do more projects such as these more frequently, as it was a great pleasure working with them and they would like to work together again.
