July has certainly been a month of giving and honoring those who give and have given so much of themselves for others and for the sake of humanity.

South Africans celebrated the birthday of former President Nelson Mandela by offering 67 minutes of their time to make a difference. People helped build warm kennels for the pets of Khayelitsha, fold autism awareness pamplets, volunteeered at the Green Point Soup Kitchen or participated in making a Mandela mosaic out of tinned food at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre this #MandelaDay.
Here at the Woodstock Improvement District we continued to collect warm blankets to which we distribute to those in need as an ongoing initiative.

The safety of our people still remains our number one priority!
So for this reason we have designed a Safe Route - as seen in the map above - for which the community members of Woodstock can use as an alternative when walking through the area.
We strongly advise citizens who travel by train between the hours of 5am and 6pm, to journey up Station Road, then down Victoria Road and into Searle Street.
In light of the recent muggings and assaults, we advise you to avoid taking shortcuts through the park and walk down busier roads instead.
