Message from Principal Gartner

Hello from West Lutheran High School. My name is Dave Gartner and I’m excited to start this new chapter of my life as principal of West Lutheran High School and follow the 2019-2020 West theme “Forward in Faith.” This school year will begin my 28th year in education. My entire teaching and administration experience has been in Redwood Falls, MN, whereas my first 21 years of my life were in Milwaukee, WI.  My time in Redwood Falls began in 1992 at St. John Lutheran School teaching grades 2-3 and being the school athletic director. In Redwood Falls my teaching roles changed, and over several years I was able to teach grades 2-8. In 2005 I became principal of St. John Lutheran School and in 2010 received my master’s degree in leadership from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.

I am married to Michelle, who works at Martin Luther College as the Event Coordinator and have two sons. My oldest son Nicolas is 22 years old and recently married to Anna. They will be moving to the Mequon, WI area where Nic will be studying to be a pastor and Anna will be teaching grade 6 departmentalized at Bethlehem in Menomonee Falls. My other son Luke is 19,  has a love for history, and enjoys being in the workforce doing painting. Our family will be moving to Maple Grove during the middle of July. We look forward to getting to know all the families at West Lutheran High School.
