Update from Thailand!

"Mistakes are teachers"

I'm sure you've all heard the age old adage "we learn from our mistakes."
Well, in Thailand a similar proverb exists, "mistakes are teachers." We have found this concept to be true through our experience, especially when it comes to learning the language. Whitney has completed the first level (module) with her Thai language teacher P'Ying, and is working towards reading and writing the language.

In June we celebrated Addie's 9th birthday. It was a sweet party with precious friends God has brought into our lives over the last two years we have lived here.

We traveled about 8 hours south to another province for a few days for some family time. While staying there we got to share about Jesus with the hotel staff. It was a pretty awesome along the way moment. [You can read about it here.]

July 4th we celebrated America's Independence with a group of expats in our city. We ate yummy food which included hot dogs and Chris made baked beans from scratch.

Our open table has been going really well, but we have planned a break over the next couple of months. We have been intentional to continue to build relationships with those God has placed in our path and develop ways we can impact our community.
Our friends, who have been missionaries for 15 years, in another part of Thailand, invited us to visit their farm a couple of weekends ago. We were so excited for the fellowship and to see how they had been using a farm for tent-making as well as a means of building relationships and sharing Jesus. We had a blast riding their horse, Miss Daisy, snuggling doggies, and biking around the zoo!

Last week while Chris was out with the leaders of the house churches visiting the sick and others interested in hearing about Jesus, they were invited to pray for a lady who was in the final stages of cancer. The team prayed for her healing, and shared a simple gospel message that she responded to in faith, along with one of her family members that was present. (More to come later.)

Rainy season is upon us, but the rain hasn't come. Many of the believers are having struggles because of crop failure. Would you pray that God would send rain to Thailand and that we wouldn't only see a physical harvest, but a spiritual harvest as well.
We are so excited for what God is doing in this season as He leads us into friendship with people all around us. Our delight is to faithfully serve the Lord, partnering with Holy Spirit to be love to the person in front of us!

Thank you for being God's love displayed to us, and to those God has placed in your sphere of influence.

Future needs...

  • We are in the beginning stages of planning to travel back to the states. The tentative plan is to travel back the end of February 2020 for about 4-6 months. We had a generous donation towards our tickets, but still need a few things to line up.
  • We will need a car (6 passengers) to use while we are back, or even possibly an RV. If you have any connections let us know!
You are such a blessing to us, and we are grateful for the way you love, support, and encourage us as we live among those who have never heard of the Good News of what Jesus had done. Because of your generosity we get to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the ends of the earth. Thank you for partnering with us, and being a part of bringing God's Kingdom to Thailand.

We love you!
