Band Camp Reminders

Students - be sure to come to band camp prepared and ready to work! Music, instrument, band jug filled with water, name tag, lunch and dinner.  Wear a t-shirt, athletic shorts, socks and sneakers. Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses are recommended. Please refrain from drinks other than water on the practice field as it attracts bees.  

Parents - yes you can bring food to your student if you wish.  Meal times are on the schedule which was distributed at registration and is on the front page of the band website northgwinnettband.org.  You can pull up in front of the school and meet your student to deliver. Please do not leave food in the band room.  

Preview show -- parents and family members are invited to come see what we have learned on Friday, July 26 at 5:45 PM on the practice field (aka the senior lot). 

Cookout - please send in your donations for the End of Band Camp Cookout no later than Wednesday, July 24th.  

Facebook  -- Please LIKE our Facebook page North Gwinnett High School Marching Band Parents.  While it's not an official source of information, it’s a good way to find carpools, get reminders, and find out what the band is up to!  

Spirit Nights

We will have our first SPIRIT NIGHT on Wednesday, July 31st at Freezing Moo in Suwanee.  The band will get 30% from every sale! Just stop by Freezing Moo anytime between 12 noon and 10 PM, let them know you’re with the North Gwinnett Band Program, and support the band by eating rolled ice cream. Enjoy a fun treat after that Wednesday’s Marching Band practice!  Mark your calendars for two additional upcoming Spirit Nights: Tuesday, August 20 at Chipotle and Thursday, September 19 at Your Pie. That’s two nights you don’t have to make dinner after band practice!

Band Mom’s Night Out

No one has more fun that Band Moms right?  We have had a few fun ladies step forward with an interest in gathering us together.  Watch for upcoming dates and venues! 

Volunteers 

The North Gwinnett Band Parent Association cannot function without parent volunteers.  We strongly encourage you to volunteer in some capacity. There are many ways to help out!  Please look out for the online sign up sheets we will be emailing to you. We look forward to working with all of you this year!  

Colorguard Notes -- Just a reminder to our colorguard parents that we need your help as well! The guard will need uniform help and chaperones.  Please be on the lookout for emails. Remember that when we say “band” and “band parents,” we mean you too!   

Spirit Wear

There is still time to order Spirit Wear!  We will take orders up until the start of school on August 5th.  The list of items (with pictures, prices, and colors) and order form are being uploaded to the band website. Send your completed order form to our spirit wear chair Jackie Hall at spiritwear@northgwinnettband.org . If you have any questions you can also contact her at that address. You will need to ensure you get a check or paypal payment to our treasurer, Elizabeth Rickwood before the order can be placed. Email her with questions at: treasurer@northgwinnettband.org .

Additional Show Shirts

Show your support for our band with a 2019 SHOW SHIRT!  If you didn’t already order at registration, send your size to president@northgwinnettband.org by Monday, August 5. Shirts are $15 each and will be available by August 23. 

Corky Kell 

The band’s first performance will be on Saturday August 24 at the Corky Kell Classic when the North Gwinnett Bulldogs take on Colquitt County at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  Tickets are general admission and can be pre-ordered through the band for $20. Email Christine Peters at secretary@northgwinnettband.org to place your ticket order.

Last year was our first year securing corporate sponsors for our band program. Our total profit was approximately $11,000. We need everyone’s help to secure new sponsors for 2019-20 by visiting local businesses that you frequent. If you are a business owner, please consider sponsoring the band.  Attached you will find a “North Gwinnett High School Band Program 2019-20 Corporate Sponsorship” form to print, email and share with prospective supporters. Keep in mind to contact them sooner than later.  The deadline for submission of sponsorship is August 15, 2019.
