RTD is offering their customers another transit option in 2020 with the opening of the N Line, also known as the North Metro Rail Line, to Thornton. The N Line represents another major step in developing a comprehensive transit network for their customers.
Join RTD to learn more about the new N Line and share your feedback, especially pertaining to bus routes and how they reach the N Line. Attend a public meeting at one of the following locations.

Adams County Economic Development in partnership with Smart Commute, presented Bumper to Bumper: Solutions to Our Growing Congestion Challenge at their summer Investor Forum on August 6th at the Ranch Country Club to a sold out crowd.
Denver Metro residents spend an average of 83 hours per year stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Five expert panelists discussed what’s being done to solve this ever-growing challenge from CDOT construction projects to TOD and Walk-Ability projects, and everything in between.
Thanks to these great panelists for their great insight: Brad Calvert, Regional Planning and Development Director from the Denver Regional Council of Governments; Chessy Brady of RTD’s Transit Oriented Development Department; Paul Jesaitis, Region 1 Transportation Director for CDOT; Sheryl Machado, Public Information Associate for E-470; and Karen Stuart, Executive Director of Smart Commute and State Transportation Commissioner for District 4.

"Cheers" to the City of Thornton - Allstate Insurance recently ranked the city in the Top 30 of America's Best Drivers report.
Additionally, Thornton recently installed in-pavement solar-powered LED lights on Quebec Street north of 138th Avenue. The lights, embedded along northbound and southbound white edge lines and double yellow centerlines, help drivers stay within their lanes.

Go-Tober is an annual competition between companies across the Denver metro, and this year's challenge is now open for new applications.
In the past, Smart Commute has had at least one company finish in first place—out of more than 50 companies participating regionally. We provide exceptional support to our company competitors. The Go-Tober challenge is a great fit for companies that like to compete with their peers and want to demonstrate corporate citizenship.

In the efforts to repair the recent US 36 washout, CDOT and their partner, Kremer North America, have fully removed the eastbound wall and are beginning to rebuild the wall immediately and at no additional expense to the taxpayer. The crews are using large geofoam blocks to fill in the existing backfill safely and effectively. CDOT's timeline for the project includes a full opening of eastbound lanes of US 36 by October of this year. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to the project hotline at 303-327-4028.

As the school year begins, Smart Commute invites families to look into the Way to Go Schoolpool program. You don't have to settle for a driving drop-off routine with your children! There are about 200 schools throughout the region and more than 40 schools in the Denver north metro that participate in this program.
Schoolpool is a safe and secure program that allows families to search for other nearby families to coordinate chauffeuring duties. Schoolpool reduces the number of cars circling around schools, increasing safety for students and decreasing emissions.
If your school is on the list, simply click to determine your next step for signing up (often involves a quick email to your school coordinator for verification). If you do not see your school on this list, talk to your school administrator about this program — it is free for schools and has been around for more than 20 years, providing families with an easy and safe way to cooperate in dropping off/picking up students.

Carson and Tammy from the Smart Commute team attended the Association of Commuter Transit (ACT) International Conference earlier this month in the Big Apple, where they learned about best practices from around the nation on topics ranging from effective vanpool strategies, engaging commuter challenge campaigns, the latest app-based commuter platforms, and many more.
They had the treat of hearing from two internationally known transportation experts. First, they heard from Janette Sadik-Kahn, the author of Streetfight. Streetfight focuses on Sadik-Kahn's efforts at transforming NYC streets into dynamic, safe spaces for pedestrians and bikers. Second, they learned from Gil Penalosa, the founder of 8-80 Cities. 8-80 Cities is an organization focused on creating public spaces that are great for everyone in a community from an 8-year-old to 80-year-old.
Carson and Tammy helped the Rocky Mountain ACT Chapter introduce Denver as the 2020 ACT Conference Host on behalf of Smart Commute.
