Hot Toys’ Nearly 100 Collectible Figures At San Diego Comic-Con Will Make Your Eyes Water

By Mike chua on Jul 19, 2019 05:19 pm

If you need a reason why you should spend four full days at San Diego Convention Center for the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, well, here’s one. Hong Kong toy maker, Hot Toys, in collaboration with Sideshow, have brought along nearly 100 collectible figures to the convention that will make your eyes water uncontrollably. Included in the entourage are collectible figures from staples and dare we say, crowd favorite, Avengers: Endgame, plus newly acquired license including horror flick IT: Chapter 2 and Terminator: Dark Fate.

Hot Toys at San Diego Comic-Con 2019

It is worthy to note that many of the exhibits are being showcased for the first time internationally. Some highlights include a 1:4 scale Spider-Man from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Iron Man Mark II and Mark III from the first Iron Man movie, 1:6 scale Battle Damaged versos of Iron Man Mark LXXXV, Iron Patriot, and Hulk from Avengers: Endgame, Jedi Starfighter, Battle Droid from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Maul from Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Pennywise (from IT) – just to name a few.

There are seriously a crazy number of highly-accurate collectible figures that you will probably take hours just to ogle over them. And mind you, that is just Hot Toys alone. If you are heading there, you look out for Hot Toys at San Diego Convention Center, at Sideshow booth #1929. If not, there’s always photos to keep your eyes full.

KILLSPENCER Parachute Collection Features Bags Made From U.S. Military Pilots Parachutes

By Mike chua on Jul 19, 2019 03:36 pm

There are bags that oozes with military style, but there are no bags that oozes with more military style than one that’s handcrafted using authentic, repurposed U.S. Military Pilots Parachutes. By U.S. Military Pilots Parachutes, we do mean the parachute that goes into the jet-propelled ejection seat that helps to get ejected pilot safely to the ground. Yes. That parachute. It really makes camo so passé.

In any case, camo is akin to wearing a branded piece slapped with a huge branding that screams “look I am expensive!” Being made of military parachutes is like reliability that needs no big branding to say it is so. The KILLSPENCER Parachute Collection is exactly that.

Being made from military-grade parachutes means it is lightweight and super tough – thanks to the ultra-lightweight ripstop nylon, plus mil-spec webbing. Seriously, I do not need further detail why the KILLSPENCER Parachute Collection is crazy cool, do I?

All told, the collection comprises of 6 pieces, including Parachute Belts Bag 2.0 ($265), Parachute Daypack ($350), Parachute Duffle ($400), Parachute Market Tote ($185), Parachute Mini Daypack ($285), and Parachute Zippered Pouch ($110). Each item is offered in flexible, shiny Olive Drab with antique silver RiRi zippers.

The KILLSPENCER Parachute Collection is cool and all, but as you may have already noticed, they don’t come cheap. You can learn more about the collection HERE.

You Can Turn Your Pet Dog Into A Demogorgon Dog With This Handmade Costume

By Mike chua on Jul 19, 2019 10:48 am

Demodog. The adolescent Demogorgon on four from Netflix’s Stranger Things is hardly cute by any standard. In fact, it is anything but. However, that’s in the TV show. As it turns out, demodog may not be as menacing in the real world, as proven by Etsy seller That Crafty Friend. That Crafty Friend has created Demogorgon Dog Costume designed for, well, what else? Dogs, of course.

The result couldn’t be more adorable. While it is referred to as ‘costume’, it is more like a head gear. It is more akin to the Elizabethan collar that veterinarians put on fido to prevent the animal from licking its head or neck after a surgery. Head gear or costume, we have no issue. All we know is, it is pretty damn awesome.

Stranger Things Demogorgon Dog Costume

Stranger Things Demogorgon Dog Costume is made handmade from wool felt and yarn, and comes with heavy duty snaps. It is available in a variety of sizes to suit different dog sizes, ranging from extra small for 5-10 lbs dogs (like Chihuahua) to extra large for big canines (like Great Dane) weighing over 75 lbs.

Prices start at $25 for extra small and runs up to $75 for extra large variety. I know it is too early, but Stranger Things Demogorgon Dog Costume makes for awesome Halloween costume for canine friend if you decided to go out dressed as Dustin or, perhaps even as a Demogorgon.

Lotus Evija Is A 1,972 HP All-Electric Hypercar With A $2.1 Million Asking Price

By Mike chua on Jul 19, 2019 10:05 am

Can super rich, automobile enthusiasts enjoy what they love, i.e. speed and power, while keeping it green? Well, with the Lotus Evija (pronounced as ‘E-vi-ya’) all-electric hypercar, they certainly can. I am pretty pumped about the Evija. Not going to lie, but at the same time, I am not going to dance to the marketing tunes that came with the press text. So, lets just get on with the key details.

Lotus Evija All-electric Supercar Revealed

Lotus Evija is the first all-electric British hypercar that packs 2,000 PS (1,972 HP) and 1,700 Nm (1,254 lb-ft) of torque, thus making it the world’s most powerful series production road car. It is also the lightest EV hypercar to enter production at just 1,680 kilograms (3,704 lbs) – thanks to the ultra-lightweight carbon fiber monocoque.

The electric drivetrain developed by technical partner Williams Advanced Engineering that drives it is capable of rocketing this evocative ride from 0-62 (0-100 km/h) in under 3 seconds, sending it on its way to a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h). Its mid-mounted 2,000 kW lithium-ion battery pack, a nod to the marque’s mid-engined sports car layout, provides a pure electric driving range of 250 miles (400 kilometers).

Lotus Evija All-electric Supercar Revealed

Other highlights include the world’s first main and dipped beam laser lighting technology, deployable rear spoiler, F1-style Drag Reduction System (DRS), magnesium wheels (20 inches front; 21 inches rear), specially developed Pirelli Trofeo R tires, forged aluminum AP Racing braking system with carbon ceramic rotors, handle-free dihedral doors open using a key fob, and instead of traditional mirrors, it has electronically deployed cameras at the sides and the roof that provides images on three screens in the cabin.

TBH, everything looks really exciting until the deploying cameras came up. I mean, seriously, I rather go with actually mirrors over bits that jut out like a sore thumb. Just saying…

Lotus Evija is a confirmed ride, btw. In other words, this ain’t no concept (yay?). In fact, it is open for reservation now where a £250,000 (roughly US$314,000) deposit will secure you a unit that will be made in 2020. The actual car price is priced from £1.7 million (around US$2.1 million) plus duties and taxes.

By Mike chua on Jul 19, 2019 08:26 am

You heard it is coming. Now see the first official trailer of the much awaited (or not?) sequel to the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick. And along with it, we got our first look at the official movie poster too. The story is not clear at this point. No synopsis yet, but from the trailer, we learn that Maverick (Tom Cruise) is still a, well, Captain who is trying to fit into a modern day regiment, or something along the line.

Here’s the official movie poster:

Top Gun: Maverick First Official Trailer

Also, it is F-18 Super Hornet now because, F -14 Tomcat is so yesterday tech. I can’t say I am pumped, but from the short bits, Top Gun: Maverick does look promising. Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise (duh), Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, and Lewis Pullman with everyone’s favorite big screen military top brass, Ed Harris. Top Gun: Maverick is expected to hit the theaters on June 26, 2020.
