Summer Food Drive: Join members of our parish Social Justice Ministry and the Knights of Columbus during all Masses July 20-21 in our Summer Food Drive! Food collected will help stock pantries at five pantries in under-served sections of Washington, DC. We are grateful for the work of the John S. Mulholland Foundation for helping to organize the food drive this year! Please click here for a list of food items to bring. Keep our neighbors from going hungry this summer!
Parish Council Members Needed: The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is seeking new members to replace those who's terms are expiring. The PPC advises and assists the Cathedral Rector in developing activities to enhance the spiritual and temporal life of our parish community. The PPC both articulates a strategic vision for the parish and implements pieces of that vision through its committees, ministries, and programs. Click here for more information on the PPC. Email Chris Maher if you are interested in volunteering to serve the Cathedral as a PPC member.
Dinner with the L'Arche Community: A small group from St. Matthew's visits the L'Arche Houses in Adams Morgan on Saturday, August 3 to share dinner with the residents there. We bring different healthy food items to share with 6-12 people. Interested in cooking a dinner dish and sharing in dinner with the residents of the L'Arche Community? Contact Franz Kuo to sign up.
Homeless Ministry: Volunteers are needed to prepare bagged lunches, donate breakfast food, and/or serve on Monday mornings at St. Matthew’s weekly Breakfast Ministry for the poor and homeless. Contact Jim Walsh for more information on volunteering and making donations to the Homeless Ministry.
Serve as a Liturgical Minister at the Cathedral: The Cathedral is in need of liturgical ministers at all Masses, including weekday Masses. Ministers of hospitality (greeters), ushers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, and servers are especially needed. The suggested commitment is one Sunday per month. Contact Deacon Bart Merella for more information on expectations and training.
