Concierge Beta

That's what I'm calling the first iteration of the Beta programme.

When an app is in 'beta', it means it's still under development, but is given to a group of external people to test it in advance of a public release. The beta testing phase can span many months, with the product being constantly iterated on and improved.

Since there's a more involved onboarding process at this stage of the product, I need to be thoughtful about who can use it.

Last week
 

Sooo...manually adding data to books in the app took a lot longer than I thought!

I did have a couple of friends help out a little, and I wrote a script to speed up a part of the process, but I can't hide from the fact that many hours of manual data entry is going to have to go into kickstarting this app.

I know a lot of you are excited to try The StoryGraph out, so please bear with me. I'm trying to get it to as many of you as quickly as possible.

This week

This time next week I hope to report back that The StoryGraph Beta finally has some users.

Maybe I'll also be able to give some early indication of their feedback — eek! 😬

I've been meaning to read some of Kazuo Ishiguro's work for over 15 years now. Finally managed to start this last week.

Are you an Ishiguro fan? What's your favourite of his novels if so?
