I am aware this was a huge win for us in many ways…I think we knew that this win…was going to be bigger than soccer” US Women’s National Team co-captain Megan Rapinoe (CNN)

Hello!

I hope you’re having a good week 🌞! On my part, I was in Paris at
The Family (if you’re an entrepreneur you should definitely watch their videos and attend their talks) on Monday to speak at a conference about “Financial empowerment: How women can be a driving force for future generations”, it’s my favourite topic and one I wrote about in my FT column a few months ago. This was a ”public affairs” event with Oriel Petry, UK Diplomat, Deputy Trade Commissioner for Europe so we tried to look at private and public ways of solving issues.

🌟 In this week’s newsletter, we’ll look at the main money news of the week (the rise of online shopping, ESG investing, changing financial needs across generations); we are interviewing Florence Swift about what her experiences running a blog and how she manages money, followed by our anonymous money story, book reviews and events.

📅 Summer Event85 tickets are already gone and I am getting excited! We are hosting this special Vestpod summer event on Wednesday, July 17th at Huckletree in Shoreditch, with 3 amazing guests: Bola Sol (personal finance guru and founder of Refined Currency), Carmel Dickinson (Head of events at Boring Money) and Lauren Armes (coach and CEO and founder of Welltodo) and we will talk about “Know your worth: getting paid and negotiating”, followed by a Q&A and then drinks. Get your ticket and join us because this is our last event before the summer holidays!

Thank you! Have a good day 💓!

It’s more about online shopping now.
You might already feel like you do all your shopping online, but as a nation we currently only buy 19% of our goods online. That’s set to change though, with a new report in Retail Economics estimating that more than half of all UK shopping will be done online in 10 years’ time. The trend is said to be led by millenials, of course… MoneyExpert

What’s new in sustainable investing (ESG)?
Sustainable investing - also known as Environmental Social and Governance investing is hotting up faster than the planet these bonds and shares are designed to protect. Currently there are over 30 trillion such assets under management, and with the younger generation demanding more ethical investments that figure looks set to rise, despite the difficulties this new market has had with reliable reporting. Raconteur

Changing financial needs across generations
There’s an interesting new report out from the Financial Conduct Authority. It  looks at the different ways we create and preserve wealth over three generations. In a nutshell, today’s workers are less well off than those of a decade ago, whereas the current batch of retirees are richer. Darn those baby boomers! FCA
