Funding Mission, Ministry and Learning
in Chinook Winds Region - A Preview

By Joel Den Haan,
Community of Faith Support/Strategy Consultant, Chinook Winds Region

During the 2019 season, The United Church of Canada provided more than $155,000 to support a range of mission, ministry, and learning initiatives in Chinook Winds Region. With thankfulness for the work and commitment of our dedicated partners in mission here in the Region, we are now looking toward new funding arrangements for 2020. Your Community of Faith Strategy Working Group has been tasked with providing resources and review for these funding initiatives,  under the direction of the Chinook Winds Region Executive and Executive Minister.
Here’s what will happen: later in July our Working Group will be finalizing a Program and Funding Proposal document that will be the official tool by which mission, ministry, and learning funds can be requested. This Proposal document draws from proven resources used within our United Church community but will take a different form from the former Mission Support Grant application.
You will be able to access the Program and Funding Proposal document in August, online through website links, as well as by contacting either Chinook Winds Region office or your Community of Faith Support/ Strategy Consultant Rev. Joel Den Haan at joel.denhaan@gmail.com.
News from Pastoral Relations
By Lee Spice, Pastoral Relations

Licensed Lay Worship Leaders, we're looking for you!  If you have not already done so, please send your contact information to the Regional Pastoral Relations office - we are in the process of reconstituting our list.
Here are some policies that were passed at the last Pastoral Relations Council meeting:
•    Pastoral Relations Regional Council adopted the policies in the LLWL handbook from General Council (June 2019)
•    Those LLWL candidates who have completed the coursework need to forward proof of completion to the Regional Pastoral Relations Office.
•    That an LLWL is allowed to serve three consecutive Sundays to a maximum of 12 Sundays per year in the same congregation.
•    That the compensation for LLWL is the rate for visiting ministry personnel, set by the General Council Office, including providing services in one's own congregation.
•    That the current list of LLWL have their licenses renewed for the period July 1/19 to June 30/2020, and annually thereafter.
Communities of Faith: If you are working on your profile and Living Faith Story to upload to ChurchHub, Lee has a couple of "cheat sheets" that might be helpful.  Email LSpice@united-church.ca.
Re-appointment Time?  Ministry Personnel in Appointment/ M & P Committees: Please check the date on your current Record of Call or Appointment.  Re-appointments can be approved by the Governing Body (Board or Council), but also need to be approved by our office, so please get the completed form into us in good time.
