In midterm assessment, the result of our English program is 90% passed and Khmer program is 78.94% passed. 10 of our preschool students are going to graduate at the end of this month.

We have started a trial student development program, thanks to funding from KEEN. We have sent 135 students outdoors to participate the social events and workshops including a 5-session environment workshop, the Senior Youth Leadership Program, the Circus show and the Green & Grow event. In addition, we have selected 10 students to join Leader of the Year Award, which only two students will be selected to be leaders of the year. And of course after the trial, we need more funding to continue our program next year. Learn more about the program here.

Currently, we have 12 sewing students, six in advanced class and six in beginner class. Due to our new approach of letting them to practice more in class, we have seen that students are more skillful and confidence. They are going to graduate in December and we are now recruiting new students for our beginner class.

We provided five sewing machine loans to beginner students, so they can use to practice their lessons at home and earn some income as well.

Our sewing business income has increased, thanks to our ongoing consignment and wholsale partners. This year, we have two new partners, Women Resource Center and Eco Soap Bank.

On 12 October, we conducted "Health and Family happiness" workshops and 30 villagers attended including 10 men. The workshops went so well because the participants were engaged in the discussion. As a result, 100% of them walked out with increasing new knowledge of basic health, domestic violence, and new idea to improve their happiness in their families.

Following on from the success of our family farm program that teaches families chemical-free farming techniques, we are looking for funding to initiate a trial Mushroom Farming Program next year. This program will address malnutrition and stunting rates, and provide an income for the families who take part. Due to the cost involved in setting up a mushroom farm, this is not a competitive market, improving the outcomes for the participants involved. The cost of the trial and implementation for five families in the program is USD$23,309. Learn more about the program here.

Learn About Human and Hope Inc.

We have great news! The 'It's Not About Me' e-book will be released on the 1st November 2019. This book was written by our former Operations Manager, Sally Hetherington OAM, and details her journey developing Human and Hope Association, only to make herself redundant.

The paperback copy is available for purchase here, and the e-book will be available through Kindle and Apple Books on the 1st November. The proceeds support our Australian fundraising partner, Human and Hope Association Inc. so they can continue their work raising funds and awareness for our community centre.
