Inspiration to Others

Most people with moderate to severe TBI face challenges that will force them to adjust to a new reality. Now at 48 years old, William walks slightly off-balance, speaks slowly and takes a minute to process information. William is also gracious, funny, hard-working and intelligent. William is determined to stay on the right track and keep motivating others to do the same.

Every STEP of the Way

When you ask Nick about his job, he immediately starts to grin and gush with pride. Nick is part of the Boone Hospital Center (BHC) family and works twenty hours per week in the hospital cafeteria. Besides restocking silverware, cleaning tables and sweeping floors, Nick is the warm smile that greets BHC staff and patient’s families needing physical and emotional nourishment from the cafeteria. Nick’s parents believe without the support of BCFR, Nick would not have entered the STEP program which led him to his current position.

BCFR Reading Day

Light It Up Blue April - World Autism Awareness Month

Jake reads to students at Hallsville elementary.

Boone County Family Resources participated in the LIUB campaign by organizing the first annual BCFR reading days throughout the month of April. Staff went to local schools to share information on our services and the autism spectrum disorder by reading books on disability awareness. The books were then donated to the school library from BCFR.
