Recent news and events

We would like to thank you all for your continued effort and support to promote Scottish country dancing.

Although it is Summer in the northern hemisphere there are many wonderful Scottish dance events happening all over the world including the Western Australia Branch Weekend School, the Boston Branch Pinewoods Camp, Australian Winter School and the TAC (Teachers Association Canada) Weekend and TAC Summer School in Calgary. This event is open to all Scottish country dancers and to find out more please visit this webpage.

We are now looking forward to the start of the
Summer School in St. Andrews next week and seeing many familiar faces there.  Why not book the Thursday night social dancing and bring along a friend or neighbour to join in the fun?

We are also preparing for the Autumn Gathering event in November. This will be a great weekend of workshops, activities and dancing alongside the annual AGM Conference. Please take a look at the
website for more details.

On Wednesday 3rd July, the sun shone brightly on members from the Edinburgh and Glasgow Branches and the RSCDS staff who were representing the Society at the Queen’s annual Garden Party at Holyroodhouse Palace.

The Scottish Country Dancer Spring Issue

We hope you enjoyed the new Dancing Around the World section in the Spring Issue.

We are now planning the Autumn Issue of Scottish Country Dancer and would love to hear from you.
Is there a new trend or a burning issue you wish to raise?
Then send a letter to the Editor!

As a member of a Branch or an Affiliated Group, you could also write a short report outlining recent news and detailing any exciting new activities or events. The report should be a maximum of 200 words and please send direct to Caroline Brockbank by 1st August at
caroline@ceilidhkids.com

If you are emailing any photo images then please ensure you label the files with name/event details and dates. The Editor sometimes receives files which are unclearly labelled and confusing e.g. IMG.1234567, so please avoid!

Scottish Country Dancer has always been the members’ magazine of the RSCDS, so don’t hesitate to send us your views and encourage other members to write in to
mag.editor@rscds.org

Finally, if you wish to place an advert with us, please do get in touch. This is the ideal platform to advertise and promote your event, festival or new publications! Send your artwork by the 1st of August to
cecile.hascoet@rscds.org. (Remember to check our Media Pack for advert specifications.)

Scottish Learning Festival 2019

Representatives of the RSCDS will be exhibiting at the Scottish Learning Festival on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th September in order to promote the benefits of our educational resources to Scottish school teachers and contacts. We are interested in building on the long-standing history of working with schools to help provide tomorrow's generation with the pleasure of “Dancing Scottish”.

For our members in Scotland, please share this information around your local schools to encourage teachers to visit our stand in Glasgow this September at the SEC. At this event, they will be able to find out more about the diverse range of resources and awards on offer for learning and development. Please direct them to this webpage or ask them to get in touch for more information.

Marketing and Communications

We are in the process of updating our Marketing and Communications Strategy and would like to invite you to have your say about how the RSCDS should promote Scottish country dancing, market the Society to new members and communicate effectively with existing members and Branches/Affiliated Groups.

Debbie Morris. Come along and share your ideas if you have a chance…there will also be cake!

Please note that additional feedback opportunities will be made available to all members in due course… watch this space!
