Hey Bookworm!

Welcome to my newsletter. I'd love to share my highlights from the past month.

  • Writing - Betas & ARCs
  • Reading - Blurbing
  • Life - The Literati
I have heaps going on in my author world and I'd love your help. I'm looking for beta readers and ARC readers.

A beta reader is someone who would be willing to read an ebook manuscript before it's published and give their feedback to me, privately. This would help me strengthen the story before sending it out into the wide world.

An ARC reader is someone who would be willing to read an Advanced Review Copy of a book and post a review publically after it's published. This would be the final version of the book and would be available for free as either an ebook or audiobook.

If you're interested in volunteering for either, please reply to this email and let me know.
LOVE AND OTHER BATTLES!

Sorry (not sorry) for the shouty all-caps but I can't help myself. Love and Other Battles is the latest release from Aussie author, Tess Woods. I've raved about all of her books and this one is the best, yet. It's a three-generational story set from the 60s to current day and dealing with a range of hot topics. I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy and being asked to blurb it. My two-sentence review appears on the back cover of the paperback.

"Tess Woods has done it again with emotionally engaging Aussie fiction. Smiling with tears - five stars."

Yes, I just quoted myself - LOL. Do yourself a favour and read it. I also listened to the audio and it's fab, too.
To continue the Tess-fangirling, my personal highlight of the month was spending the weekend with Tess in Sydney for her book launch. We spent the weekend rubbing shoulders with the literati of Sydney (brace yourself for some Aussie name dropping).

On Saturday night, I braved driving through Sydney (sorry Tess) to Cheryl Akle's (Better Reading) house for dinner. I sat next to Caroline Overington, chatted to Belinda Alexandra, saw Michael Robotham's chest scar and discovered that Melina Marchetta's mum lives in the same town where my mum grew up.
Sunday lunch was with Nicola Moriarty (whose latest release I raved about last newsletter), Jessica Dettman, Holly Wainwright and Melina Marchetta.

The book signing event was in the afternoon at Anna's Shop Around the Corner in Cronulla and was totally packed. Then dinner with Lauren Chater, Amanda Knight, Emily Madden and Melissa Sargent.

I kicked back in the hotel room on Monday while Tess slaved away, signing books, then we finished off the Sydney trip with dinner in the company of Amal Awad and Sarah Ayoub.

If you've read any of my books and have a couple of minutes spare, I'd love it if you wrote a short review on Amazon, Goodreads or Bookbub.
