By Way of Reminder #308
Foreknown by God

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Psalm 139:13-14

I'm certain that everyone reading these words has heard this verse a hundred times. It's an easy one to latch on to because it gives insight into what takes place inside the womb. That strange, awesome miracle of life is beyond our sight, but God knows us at all times.

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance...
Psalm 139:15-16a

This is where it gets really crazy to me: God not only knit us together, He did it before we had hope of doing anything on our own (Psalm 100:3a). We provided nothing of the raw materials He used to shape and form us before the world was created (Ephesians 1:4).

When you ponder the timing, it reveals an awesome insight into eternity. God, before time, foreknew and predestined all things, including each soul He would knit together. When we see a newborn child, we are being allowed to see a tiny slice of His eternal plan. Our souls are eternal, but the body we inhabit for a brief time is made right before us.

...in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Psalm 139:16b

The only work more wonderful than God creating new life is when He draws one to Himself through Christ, creating a new heart inside an eternal being made in His image. This too He does on His own timetable, revealing His eternal plan to us, one life at a time.

Do justly. Love kindness. Walk humbly. Stay tuned.

In Christ,
