There comes a level of seniority in leadership where you discover that there are others who know more about how the world works, than you. This is inevitable. Yet leaders often struggle – they try and learn the latest thing about blockchain or Fintech to keep up with those pesky younger people (or maybe just to sound cool). Think about this as focusing on the “outer” game.
There’s nothing wrong with focusing on the outer game. What is fascinating though, is why people simultaneously ignore the “inner” game. Think of this as all the doubts, hopes, anxieties and aspirations that flood us as we contemplate decisions about the “outer” world.
Professor Narayan Pant's premise is that leaders above a certain level of seniority will gain far greater boosts for their careers and leadership with a little more attention to their “inner” games. This talk will illustrate what that means and how you can go about doing it.
Professor Pant works with leaders to improve leadership effectiveness. He directs INSEAD’s senior leadership programme – LEAP: Leadership Excellence through Awareness and Practice. The program focuses on enabling leaders to transform organizations through transforming themselves.
Prior to joining INSEAD, Narayan taught strategy and policy at New York University's Stern School and worked as a strategy consultant with the Monitor Group. He worked with companies in FMCG, financial services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, retail and many others. Since joining INSEAD, Narayan has been Associate Dean of Executive Education for Asia, and Dean of Executive Education for all INSEAD.
