This Week...
This Sunday (21st July) we are at Sidney Stringer Academy, continuing our series on cultivating a compassionate heart: SERVE.

This week, Guest Speaker: Helen Hodgson, will be speaking about the work of Hope at Home and how we can serve personally and appropriately to the 'poor'.

Hope at Home's mission is to see an end to the cycle of human trafficking in the UK and to restore dignity and help to rebuild the lives of survivors by providing them with the opportunity to lead healthy, resilient, independent lives and bring hope to others.

From our Pastors...
Jesus had compassion on the crowds he saw around him. His compassion moved him to serve them. Care for people in need is reflective of the heart of God, and has always been a Vineyard priority. Expressing God's love in practical ways is something Jesus called us to do. The Apostle Paul writes:For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10)
If we are in relationship with God and if we are living under his kingdom, we will seek justice for all those around us. Social justice isn’t a new gospel; rather, it flows directly from the gospel of forgiveness and the new life of Christ. Seeking justice is a sign of true discipleship. However, oftentimes it can be difficult to preserver in the face of overwhelming need. We recommend the book, Slow Kingdom Coming, in helping you practically meet the needs of your neighbourhood and serve others with compassion.

Transforming injustice in UK austerity and poverty

by Coventry University

A participatory workshop challenging and reflecting on the Church’s aim to transform unjust structures of society in austerity Britain. This is a free event to be held on Friday, 13 September 2019, 09:30 – 15:30, at Elm Bank
For the past eight years or so we have partnered with the Dalitso trust and since October 2018 the emerging Vineyard church in Malawi. Our friends, Ali Husbands (Birmingham Vineyard) and Nicola Bass (Life Vineyard, Tyneside) have been in Malingunde, Malawi leading the first ever Vineyard Women's conference. The theme was around stories and the importance of our story. Please pray for continued empowerment for our sisters in Christ as they tell their stories and share their trust in Jesus to their neighbours, families and husbands.
