Up for re-election? Read this!
You may have heard that the Local Government Act Amendment Bill was passed recently. But what does that have to do with your re-election campaign?

Well, included in the amendment was a number of changes specifically focused on candidates and their conduct during Local Government elections.

There will now be an online induction program for candidates, and the Code of Conduct has been made manditory. So if elected, a candidate can now be sent to the standards panel for breaches to the code of conduct during an election campaign.

So if you are up for re-election this coming October, we recommend familiarising yourself with these new changes to the Local Government Act and what they mean for you as a candidate.
