Coneman Tip of the Week: Explore Pittsburgh's Neighborhoods by Bike

For new and less experienced cyclists, one of the biggest intimidation factors is often learning the best biking routes to get from point A to point B. Gaining the confidence to bike regularly is hard enough, but without knowing where protected and separated bike lanes exist, it’s too easy to use this as an excuse to not hit the road on your bike. In prior Coneman Tips, we’ve offered resources developed by BikePGH on biking, from 101 ‘how to videos’ to providing static and interactive bike network maps for the City of Pittsburgh and portions of Allegheny County.

More recently, Healthy Ride developed a series of different suggested bike routes for you, your friends, and loved ones to try out throughout the city and there are even four pre-designed routes that go through or touch Downtown (Riverfront Rides, Downtown Public Art Tour, the Northside, and the Hill District)! With the estimated travel time, expectations of the route’s terrain, and text and map directions made available for each route, Healthy Ride has done a great job simplifying these big decisions and building more confidence for new and less experienced cyclists.

Don’t have your own bike? Check out Healthy Ride’s station map to find the nearest station location to you!
