HECTARIUM Food Survival Eco-Game

Three fanfares and our Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign

Dear friends,

you might have come across this project through social media or direct contact to one us.Those who have not, might at least know that we, Diego Briceño, Ivan Rubio and myself, Anke Petersen have worked hard for the last ten month developing a video game about the future of agriculture  together with our game designers in Montréal and Berlin. The project tracks and visualizes the global use of agricultural land combines data, design and storytelling. The project includes a documentary web series and an eco-game for players to interact on their own “virtual hectare”.

Now, we need to create a fully functional prototype. Meaning, a testable game that will allow us to validate our concept and convince new partners and investors to finance the full version of this game. And we are almost there! Since nearly everyone involved is working for very little money (or none), it might take a little longer. Therefore we are running  (third fanfare) a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter! The integrated video explains precisely the history and current state of the project.

This pie-chart shows how we spend our money. That is (fanfare) the money we rise with our crowdfunding campaign which starts (even louder fanfare) today!

Our goal is to raise 7.000 € until July. Please spread the word, share our campaign-site on your social channels, give your friends a heads-up on HECTARIUM and feel free to donate if you can afford it. There are multiple options and multiple perks – and lots of karma-points included.

Whatever your contribution might be, sharing, donating or just wishing well: your support means a hell of a lot to us.
We already have a huge community that subscribed to our newsletter. If you want to receive it as well and get updates on agriculture and climate change related topics, please sign here.

This is how our virtual hectare will look like. You will start as a consumer of industrial food and will have to survive of your fair share of land and become more organic with the help of 4 different farmers:

Since we're asking you to back our crowdfunding campaign with whatever you can afford (shout-outs, sharing the link, money) and since we can't presume that each and every one of you are familiar with crowdfunding, here's a short clip that explains it all.

The UN has very high sustainable development goals. What's more: they come with a very high price-tag. A new study recommends crowdfunding to the UN. Interesting article with links to lots of deeper information. A must read

Our today's pick is about getting together (which fits the crowdfunding-idea) and besides that, it has got lyrics the world should listen to at least once a day.
Big thanks to being involved. Your support and contribution for a better future counts.
With love from Anke, Diego, Ivan and all of us at
Hectarium.
