MUNCIE, Ind. – The rolling fields of eastern Indiana provided athletes with gorgeous scenery in the 2019 IRONMAN® 70.3® Muncie triathlon that took place on Saturday, July 13. The event saw nearly 1,600 registered athletes representing 40 states and 12 countries, territories and regions. One of more than 110 events in the global IRONMAN 70.3 Series, IRONMAN 70.3 Muncie took athletes on a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run through some of the most scenic landscape that Indiana has to offer. Athletes began with a 1.2-mile swim in the calm waters of Prairie Creek Reservoir. The 56-mile bike course then took athletes onto closed state highways for a very fast out-and-back ride through rural Indiana. The race concluded with a challenging run around the south side of Prairie Creek Reservoir over rolling country roads before returning to the reservoir for an exciting finish.
