As you may have heard, the first case of measles was reported in Ohio this summer in Stark County. Because the nation - especially the northwest - has been experiencing an influx in measles cases, our team at the Health District has been preparing for them to rear their ugly appearance in our community. Our preparation efforts include creating education materials, an outbreak exercise and weekly meetings with command staff. The most important information about the measles is to get the MMR vaccine! If you are not sure about your immunity, call your doctor or call 740-203-2040 and talk to one of our public health nurses.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about the Health District, please email me at shiddleson@delawarehealth.org

Dedicated to Your Health,
Shelia Hiddleson RN, MS

Mosquito Control Program
The Health District conducts fogging and larviciding operations to kill mosquitoes within an affected area when a mosquito-borne disease is detected through testing or a human disease case. If a subdivision area does have a positive result from a trap, the Health District will then fog. Here is a list of all of the traps within the county, including any zones currently being fogged.

If you have any standing water nearby and would like it to be treated with larvicide, give us a call at (740) 203-2066.

MMR Clinic on Fridays
The best way to prevent measles is to get the MMR vaccine! That's why we're now offering an MMR walk-in clinic on Fridays from 1-4pm.

We will be offering no-appointment car seat checks from 10am-1pm at the Aug. 10 Delaware County EMS Touch-A-Truck event taking place at the Berlin Township Fire Station on Lackey Old State Road.
