Racing at the Finn Silver Cup starts Tuesday


The fleet of young Finn sailors in Anzio are ready and waiting to start racing at the 2019 U23 World Championship for the Jorg Bruder Finn Silver Cup.

Monday was the final day of practice in Anzio and delivered some great conditions.

Here are a few of the sailors who went out today to enjoy the wind and waves.

Racing is due to commence on Tuesday at 12.00. Three races are scheduled.

Oskari Muhonen from Finland won the Finn Silver Cup in 2017 and is the top ranked sailor in Anzio. He is the world No. 7.
Guillaume Bosiard from France just won the French Nationals and is world No. 47
Nils Theuninck from Switzerland narrowly missed a medal last year to finish fourth. He is currently the world No. 15
Federico Colaninno from Italy has won the U19 prize for the last two years.
He has a world ranking of 51.
Panagiotis Iordanou from Cyprus finished mid-fleet last year. He has a world ranking of 73.
Johannes Petterssen from Sweden has a world ranking of 32 and finished 8th in 2017.
Jock Calvert from Australia finished tenth last year and has a world ranking of 33.

The 2019 U23 Finn World Championships for the Jorg Bruder Finn Silver Cup is being hosted by Circolo della Vela di Roma, in Anzio, Italy. 28 sailors from 16 nations are taking part in an 11 race series.
