Internship 101: Maximizing Your Internship | Summer Series Pt. 1

Dear BAAPALS Community,

We are excited to kick off the 11th Annual BAAPALS Summer Intern Series! The Summer Intern Series is designed to connect interns (and fellows) with one another and enhance the summer intern experience. Please invite fellow interns and intern supervisors who may be interested in participating.

The first session in our series is "Internship 101: Maximizing Your Experience". Hear from public sector experts on how to make the most of your internship by fine-tuning your etiquette, networking, and professional skills. Our panelists will help you navigate through the summer for a memorable and fulfilling experience.

This event is open to any interns working for government agencies, nonprofits, and campaigns or elected officials, but space is limited and RSVPs are needed. Snacks and water will be provided, but we are asking that everyone bring their own water canteens to reduce plastic usage.

Join the 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission

Across the country, we’ve seen how gerrymandering and other tools to influence the redistricting process have led to unfairly drawn maps and inequitable representation for communities of color and those impacted most by our climate crisis.

What’s more, these influences have led to elected officials ignoring the will of voters -- like you and me -- in favor of corporate polluters and other interests attacking our environment and our democracy.

Join the 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission today to stand up for and protect our democracy.

Fortunately, we live in California, where we have the Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) in charge of drawing our lines because we share an important democratic belief: voters should pick their legislators, not the other way around.

This is an independent redistricting commission comprised of 14 California voters who are neither legislators nor public officials -- and that’s why we hope YOU will consider applying to be a commissioner today!

Apply now to become a Commissioner for the 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission.

Bob, imagine if you had the opportunity to strengthen our democracy by designing fair, impartial, district lines for the next decade that reflect all of California’s communities. By participating in the Citizens Redistricting Commission, you would get to do just that. Your leadership can help safeguard the integrity of our elections and democratic process, as well as ensure every voice is heard.

Act now: The State Auditor’s Office has until August 9 (just 1 month left) to take applications from people to join the Commission!

Have questions about what it means to be a Commissioner? Then join CLCV and our partners in the Redistricting Collaborative tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16th at Noon for a live webinar about the process and why it’s so important.

How: Click the Zoom link (here) to join via computer or join by phone using one tap mobile (+17207072699, 134862310# US)

Or if you’re ready and willing, apply to be a commissioner now!

It’s time to step up to ensure the integrity of our democracy is maintained. I hope you’ll be one of the first to apply today make the commitment:

Apply to become a Commissioner to the 2020 Citizens Redistricting Commission by the August 9th deadline.

If there's any upcoming events or you would like us to send out or post on our calendar, or or have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email aigvatua@gmail.com
