Inaugural INBAR Scholarship Programme
In June, INBAR hosted 20 scholars from 16 countries for a 12-day-long training programme focused on ‘bamboo value addition and strategic planning.’ The participants also visited Anji, in Zhejiang province, to learn about China’s bamboo industry.

On 30 April, the Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Oumer Houssein Oba, made an official visit to the Headquarters of INBAR. The Minister and his delegation toured INBAR’s product showroom and met with INBAR’s Director General Mr. Ali Mchumo.

INBAR’s online library houses the latest research, assessments and policy studies conducted by INBAR as part of our ongoing project work, or as a contribution to our main focus areas. In 2018, INBAR published close to 60 publications related to bamboo, rattan and their uses.

A review of INBAR’s work in 2018 from around the world, including the Global Bamboo and Rattan Congress, is now available in French and Spanish.
This manual, developed by INBAR, provides clear instructions for technical staff on how to conduct bamboo forest inventories and bamboo carbon assessments.
A briefing note, prepared by INBAR for CCICED, introduces bamboo’s potential for environmental protection, and the development of the sector in China to date.

INBAR has published an English translation of Ecuador’s 2018-2022 National Bamboo Strategy, which sets out guidelines for the sector’s development.
