Inaugural INBAR Scholarship Programme
In June, INBAR hosted 20 scholars from 16 countries for a 12-day-long training programme focused on ‘bamboo value addition and strategic planning.’ The participants also visited Anji, in Zhejiang province, to learn about China’s bamboo industry.

INBAR attends CCICED AGM
In June, INBAR attended the annual meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). INBAR prepared a briefing note about bamboo for sustainable development and the history of China’s bamboo sector.

Supporting European Sustainable Horticultural Chain Management
On 17 June, The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Beijing co-hosted at event at the INBAR Garden at the Beijing Expo 2019, on ‘Sustainable Horticultural Chain Management.’ The event focused on how to create sustainable plant-based value chains.

Finalists Announced: 2019 International Bamboo Construction Competition
As part of the Expo 2019, INBAR is co-hosting the 2019 International Bamboo Construction Competition (IBCC 2019), which invited students to explore the construction applications of bamboo. Our finalists have been invited to build their designs this July.

INBAR joins the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation
In late April, INBAR attended the Belt and Road Forum as a new member of the International Green Development Coalition. This high-level meeting was a chance for INBAR to lay out its ambitious ideas on the green development of the Belt and Road.

The Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture visits INBAR HQ
On 30 April, the Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Oumer Houssein Oba, made an official visit to the Headquarters of INBAR. The Minister and his delegation toured INBAR’s product showroom and met with INBAR’s Director General Mr. Ali Mchumo.

INBAR’s online library houses the latest research, assessments and policy studies conducted by INBAR as part of our ongoing project work, or as a contribution to our main focus areas. In 2018, INBAR published close to 60 publications related to bamboo, rattan and their uses.
