A call from "Bahar."

In my last update I introduced you to my neighbour, "Bahar," a muslim friend from Syria. Over the past month we have had opportunities to connect a lot more! We have continued to visit his home, he has come over to ours and played games with the kids, we’ve read some of the Bible together and gave him an Arabic Bible to take home. I’m thankful to God for this friendship.

"Bahar" called me the other day to go out one evening; he had been attacked by someone a couple of days earlier and wanted my help finding surveillance from the area as well as help talking with the police about his rights. I was able to help and we had a good conversation as I shared a reminder of Issa’s teaching to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” I’m hoping that Jesus’ words would sink in and bear Gospel fruit. Thank you as you pray for this friendship.

A call from "Sabrina"

A couple of weeks ago my friend and neighbour called me up as she was part of organizing a neighbourhood cleanup in Cloverdale Village. I'm honoured that she thought to include me and some friends in the neighbourhood effort. We spent a day picking up trash around Cloverdale Village and had good opportunities to meet and bless several neighbours.

A call to God

Recently we started a prayer meeting on Saturday nights. My friend who runs the local food bank is letting us use their cafe to have some people gather. So far this has been a great time to begin building up the church in our neighbourhood by calling on the name of the Lord in prayer. I have been doing this exclusively in French for the time being to set an expectation for us and the neighbourhood that we are here for them (most of whom only speak French).

These are truly needed and appreciated as without financial support we would not be able to be here and without prayer support we would not have the opportunities to build up God's Kingdom that we do.
