Welcome to our new newsletter for the summer. I hope you have been enjoying the sun and managing to get out to hear some music live in the open air.
I’ve just returned from Verona where the Roman Arena has been converted into a music venue. There is something very special about having the sun go down as you listen to The Court of the crimson king (old people’s music) and not to be confused with the hall of the Mountain king (very old people’s music.)
On Saturday I heard our latest creative piece composed by our Saturday Centre children and managed this year by Sandra and Rachel. It told a story of children who identified with a particular animal and with whom they travelled around the world ending up in Brazil - it was great.
This week we have the famous Splash our largest performance of the year held at the Southbank. This year it is based on the story of the sailing of the Mayflower from Rotherhithe to the USA 400 Years ago.
As you can see below, there are lots of other exciting events happening over the summer. Kinetika Bloco and the London Chinese Children’s Ensemble both have summer schools happening, so please do pass their information onto any students who know who might be interested. Looking ahead to the next academic year, Artswork have two CPD events coming up, as well as another concert in the Classical Road Show Series and a Primary Schools concert from the London Sinfonietta, both in March 2020.
Wishing you all a relaxing and restful summer.
All the very best
