News from Point Nine Capital – July 2019

Hi <<First Name>>,

Your 10x newsletter is back!

Starting off with the heartbreaks, we unfortunately had to say adieu to our beloved King of Content & Master of Newsletters, Monsieur Clément Lenz. Clément will be moving on to pursue a personal project, but we are crossing our fingers that he will eventually come back and rejoin the #p9family. 😊

Here’s a short flashback of Clement’s time at Point Nine - looks like Nelly Furtado was right after all!

The heartbreak was followed by heat waves as temperatures rose to 40°C across Europe and, guess what? Our portfolio companies were on fire! 🔥

#P9FAMILY NEWS

The scooter race heated up as Tier surpassed 3 million rides only 23 days after surpassing 2 million rides. As far as we know, that makes Tier the fastest growing scooter company ever, which is, actually, pretty cool. 🛴🚀

Whilst Tier is busy with a land grab, cargo.one is reaching for the skies. This month, the booking platform for air freight forwarders announced that AirBridgeCargo, CargoLogicAir, and Finnair would join the cargo.one booking platform to offer their global capacities digitally. That’s a first. 🛫

Zentist recently rolled out a new product to help dentists collect insurance reimbursements at a faster rate. 😷

Procurify raised a $20M Series B to transform the “Spend Cultures” of businesses around the world for the better. With such a large pile of cash in the moneybag, let’s just hope that Aman and his team will continue to take care of their own “Spend Culture”, too.  🤣💰

Speaking of culture, 15Five raised a $30.7m Series B to help companies and their employees evaluate their performance through regular feedback (and high fives), amongst other things. 🙌

FROM OUR BLOGS

The SaaS Napkin(g) is back! Find out what it takes to raise capital in 2019 in Christoph’s latest blog. Spoiler alert: rounds and valuations just keep getting bigger, we might need bigger napkins for those large numbers soon. 💭

The heat clearly didn’t slow down our awesome legal team this month. Tilman published a post on the contractual pitfalls of selling your company whilst Paula gave us the low down on veto and majority rights. 📃

OTHER NEWS

Rumors have been spreading about us hiring a new investment team member… so we finally decided to announce it! We are so pleased to have Lenny joining us as Partner and CPO (Chief Pet Officer). She will be leading all our PaaS (pets-as-a-service) investments and also play an important role in our various diversity initiatives. Welcome, Lenny! Here’s a quick picture from our team offsite a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking of diversity initiatives, we are excited to announce the launch of Included VC alongside our partners Notion Capital, Creandum, Seedcamp, Daphni, Enern, Mangrove Capital Partner and K Fund! Included is a 12 week program aimed at helping diverse individuals enter the world of VC. We’ve received over 1,000 applications over the course of the last few weeks and look forward to receiving many more. For more info on the program, check it out here!
