Past Issues

Here’s what’s happening in Los Angeles.

If you’re still on a high from seeing Team USA take home the 2019 Women’s World Cup title last week, you’re not alone. And to help keep that momentum going, we’ve rounded up this week’s latest happenings in the LA health and fitness scene.

🍦 Top it Off

As if you need more reason to hit up local healthy hot spot Pressed Juicery, they’ve just dropped new toppings for their plant-based Freeze (ICYMI, it’s soft-serve made from fruits, nuts, and veggies) along with Freeze sundaes, and they more than live up to the hype. We’re talking vegan marshmallows, vegan gummy bears, vegan sprinkles, and gluten-free chocolate chip cookie crumbles. And to celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 21, you can grab this frozen treat for $2 at any Pressed Juicery Freeze location. Your Sunday just got a whole lot sweeter.

🌿 Spread the (Plant) Love

Bakery restaurant group Le Pain Quotidien has started a movement of the plant-based persuasion and we’re here for it. They recently introduced a “Plant Love” summer menu featuring three can’t-miss vegan dishes: the Flower Power Bowl, Portobello Shroom & Turmeric Hummus Tartine, and Good Karma Watermelon & Feta Salad. The best part (besides the delish factor, of course)? With every salad they sell, they’ll plant a tree in national forests across the US in partnership with the National Forest Foundation. We’d call that a win-win.

🎁 The Getting Is Good

Maybe you’ve heard, but in case you haven’t: we have an Instagram dedicated to all things health and fitness in LA! If you love epic shots of nearby food and workouts, outdoorsy inspo, and all the latest local news, it pays to follow… literally. We’re giving away Fitt swag, as well as $100 Whole Foods and lululemon gift cards, to one lucky winner! To enter, you just have to follow our account, like the post, and tag two friends in the comments by July 19 at midnight. It’s that simple!

🍽 Exclusive Eats

Local fave Sage Plant Based Bistro is cooking up new dishes exclusively for dineL.A. We suggest you start with their Daikon Radish and Zucchini Fries and finish off your meal with their Summer Vegetable Pizza (think house-made pesto, cashew cheese, and loads of veggies). Want some visuals? Check out their drool-worthy Instagram pics. Then, run, don’t walk to one of their three locations because those eats will be gone after July 26!

🚲 Ride On

Get ready to clip in because Chrome Cycle Studio in Westwood has a challenge for you. Your only competition? Yourself. Take 15 classes by July 25 and earn a free, unlimited week of rides in August. All you gotta do is sign up at the front desk or shoot an email to info@chromecyclestudio.com to join in on the fun.

🏖 Take it Outside

Nothing beats getting your sweat on in the fresh air, and with the help of the Beach Cities Fitness Series, you can do just that. Back for its eighth year, you can count on yoga and guided meditation every Monday night at 6:30pm. Through the end of this month, you’ll down dog and zen out as you take in the ocean views at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Then, they’re changing up the scenery in August and heading to Hermosa Beach Valley Park. No matter what, you’ll leave feeling calm, restored, and ready to take on the week.
