RE: Karen Bass Explained her Vote

Dear <<First Name>>,

Last week, I sent you an email about the United States House of Representatives vote on the resolution condemning the movement to boycott Israel. Along with the 17 members who voted against the resolution, there were another 18 who didn't vote, including your own Congresswoman, Karen Bass. You can view the full roll call vote here.

This past Saturday, I attended a town hall hosted by the Congresswoman and asked why she voted "present" on the resolution condemning BDS. (Special thanks to those who joined me!)

Here is her answer:
"Republicans are using three issues to try to divide the Democratic caucus, (1) Israel, (2) immigration, and (3) anti-Semitism. They keep pushing these resolutions on things like Israel and anti-Semitism only to attack and divide me and my colleagues. I'm tired of it."

With anti-Semitism on the rise, attacks against Israel increasing, and an anti-Zionist fervor sweeping college campuses and even some parts of Congress, we don't believe that these issues are trivial and we don't believe these resolutions function only to attack and divide Democrats. On the contrary, these resolutions represent important statements from our elected leaders and tell us, their constituents, where our representatives stand on matters that are important to us.

The Congresswoman did say that the next town hall will be held on September 3rd. We're watching for exact time and location and will share those details with you when they become available.

Until then, feel free to call the Congresswoman, you can contact her district office at (323) 965-1422 and her DC office at (202) 225-7084 and tell her that you disapprove of her vote on H.Res.246 condemning BDS and ask her to remove her cosponsorship of H.R. 2407 accusing Israel of abusing Palestinian children.
