Adelaide ARFFS recently rallied together its reputable list of Union representatives past and present, to recognise the significant contribution provided by two of its most recent position holders, Simon Osborn and Glen Barker. Simon has recently stood down as BCOM SA and Glen has recently retired from ARFFS after 40 years of operational service. Appropriately, the occasion was conducted at Adelaide's historic Union hotel.
Glen Barker (NT BCOM & Deputy WHS Coordinator, retired)
Both were presented with a traditional brass fire fighting helmet inscribed with the UFU-AV insignia, for unyielding and commendable service provided to the hundreds of members who collectively ensure that the UFU-AV remains relevant, effective and strong. The significance of the occasion was highlighted by the attendance of every Adelaide based UFU-AV official to hold a position since the opening of the Adelaide Airport Fire Station way back in 1959. To complement the already distinguished list of attendees, the North Queensland BCOM John Ring was dispatched on behalf of the Branch Secretary to deliver the obligatory speeches and congratulatory handshakes.
Thank you again Simon and Glen for the contributions you have already made, and those that are yet to be made. In Unity is our Strength.
From left to right and in descending order of tenure, former and present SA BCOM’s; Wes Garrett, Simon Osborn, Peter (PA) Arthurson, Robert (Boofa) Haines, Geoff (Bushy) Fuller, Trevor (Soupy) Turner.
