Next Step: Begin Required Orientation Courses

Hello, Class of 2023!

In September, when you arrive for New Student Orientation, you will finally begin to experience all the things that inspired you to choose Pacific Union College. We want you to be well-prepared for the transition.

Being away at college as an adult will give you the freedom to explore new experiences, and you will need to make choices to ensure your health, safety, and well-being here on-campus. We want you to make informed and empowered choices so that you can avoid behaviors that may be harmful to you or your peers, and put you on a path to engage in behaviors that are healthy and safe for you.

Like many colleges and universities, PUC requires all students to complete a comprehensive alcohol education and prevention program before their first quarter on campus.

We have adopted AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (EverFi) online courses. These are evidence-based programs that empower you to make well-informed decisions about issues that affect your years at Pacific Union College and beyond.

Each year, more than half of a million students complete these courses. AlcoholEdu is an interactive program designed to reduce the negative consequences of alcohol amongst college students. Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduate Students (SAPU) addresses the critical issues of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. This course is also required to be eligible for on-campus employment.

Completing these online, research-based courses will provide you a unique learning experience regarding important prevention skills and strategies. You will learn about healthy relationships, the importance of consent and good communication, and the many ways you can help create a safe, positive campus.

As part of New Student Orientation, you are expected to complete both courses by Friday, August 30

Each course has two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement. Please note, you must receive a grade of 70% or higher to pass and receive credit for the course.

Please check your PUC.edu email account for further information and access to these courses (sent August 1).

If you have any questions about the course deadlines or requirements, contact the Student Life office by calling (707) 965-7362 or via email at
studentlife@puc.edu

We hope you enjoy your last bit of summer vacation! We look forward to welcoming you to the campus in a few weeks!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Tyner
Vice President for Student Life

Academic Calendar

PUC’s Academic Calendar contains important dates like when classes begin, add/drop dates, student holidays, and more. This is a critical resource for planning trips home, vacations, etc. You can view the calendar for each quarter at here:

Cellular Service on Campus

We know how important it is for you to stay connected to home and friends while at PUC!

Verizon Wireless is currently the only company providing cell service to Angwin (our local town). You can use your phone on PUC's WiFi. However, beyond campus, non-Verizon service is unreliable. Now is a great time to change your phone planes if necessary.

As a new PUC student, Pacific Union College communication will come to your PUC email address.

Make sure you check your PUC email at least weekly.
