THE LATEST HAPPENINGS AT GSLC

Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”  Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.  He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.  And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
GOOD SHEPHERD'S SUMMER PICNIC
August 25, 2019  10:00am
It’s planning time for our summer picnic!  There will be two signup sheets on the Fellowship board.  One asks for your name and the number of people attending to help plan for our meat purchases.  The second on is a signup to bring a dish to pass.  We will be providing brats and hamburgers as well as watermelon and ice cones for dessert.  Please signup by August 11.

PROJECT FRESH START
School may have just ended, but it is time again for Project Fresh Start!   Project Fresh Start provides any child who qualifies for free or reduced lunch with free school supplies. The success of this program depends on community organizations, like us!  With your support, we can collect enough school supplies to ensure that every child goes back to school with a “Fresh Start” and the tools they need to succeed. Over 60,000 school supplies are needed this year.  We have a bin under the window in the Welcome Area where you can drop off any supplies.  There is also is list of the items that are needed.

OFFICE FURNITURE
We have some office furniture located in the Fellowship Area that needs a new home.  Come take a peek. Free will offering.

DRIVERS NEEDED
As you know, Frances and Joyce Polson moved to Brookdale Senior Living.  They are hopeful that they can continue to worship at Good Shepherd.  But without a vehicle available, they need drivers to bring them to and from Sunday or Monday worship.
A signup sheet and further information for drivers are available on the Signup and Info Board in the Welcome Area.  Please consider this volunteer opportunity in our faith community.
