PROTECT&ELECT MEETS WITH PA REP.
JENNIFER O’ MARA, 165th DISTRICT
To provide you with information about PA representatives in the five-county area, we had an excellent conversation with Representative Jennifer O’Mara. We learned:
Jennifer O’Mara won her seat through a hard-fought grassroots campaign. She is the first Democratic woman to hold a seat in the 165th District. Her seat is being targeted by the Republicans in 2020.
Her district encompasses Springfield, Marple, and Radnor Townships, and the Borough of Morton.
Rep. O’Mara serves on three committees: Transportation, Aging and Elder Services, and Veterans Affairs/Emergency Preparedness.
Married to a disabled war veteran, Rep. O’Mara recently sponsored and saw successful passage of a bill that allows a minimum of $5 to be donated to the PA Veterans’ Trust Fund on an individual tax return.
Born and raised by a single parent in Southwest Philadelphia, she lost her firefighter father to gun suicide. Gun control, education and student-loan reduction are important to her constituents and to her.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS CHAMPIONED BY MAYOR KINNEY IN PHILADELPHIA
In our last edition we talked about an opportunity to support migrants requiring assistance at the border. This time we introduce you to the sanctuary city of Philadelphia and the Vera Institute of Justice SAFE (Safety and Fairness for Everyone) Program, which provides legal assistance for undocumented immigrants facing deportation.
The Nationalities Services Center, thanks to the SAFE Program, will now have an onsite lawyer to assist clients. The Nationalities Services Center has been providing services for immigrants since 1921, and helps over 5000 refugees and immigrants annually. They need our help. Click here to support this program.

ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO REGISTER VOTERS –
SWING LEFT VOTE FORWARD PROJECT
SWING LEFT, through its VOTE FORWARD project, is working to flip the USA Blue. This online platform enables volunteers across the country to send heartfelt "please vote" letters to unlikely Democratic voters in key swing districts. These letters greatly increase the likelihood that the recipients will get to the polls. VOTE FORWARD gives volunteers a template that they can print, complete, and sign. Volunteers send their letters from the comfort of their own homes even if they live far from one of the competitive districts.
