MOVIE NIGHT AT THE FOLSOM’S Tonight! Friday, August 2, 7:30pm. We will enjoy potluck desserts at sunset overlooking Orange County, followed by a wonderful movie “Indivisible” PG-13. It is the story of a Chaplain in a desert war dealing with PTSD and family issues. It is exciting with a lot of action and has a great Christian message. We will be viewing this on three giant screens – 200, 110 and 70 inch screens with surround sound. Of course we will have popcorn during the movie! The big screen is behind an indoor pool. Children may watch the movie from the pool.
Please bring: Dessert to share, light jacket in case it is cool in the evening, swimsuit and towel if you plan to watch the movie from the warm pool. We will provide water, coffee and popcorn.

Verse of the Week:
A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.
— Proverbs 16:28

Winston Churchill quite often exemplified integrity and respect in the face of opposition. During his last year in office, he attended an official ceremony. Several rows behind him, two gentlemen began whispering, “That’s Winston Churchill. They say he is getting senile. They say he should step aside and leave the running of the nation to more dynamic and capable men.”
When the ceremony was over, Churchill turned to the men and said, “Gentlemen, they also say he is deaf!”
Gossip is one of the most destructive forces anyone can introduce into a relationship. That’s because when someone discovers—and they likely will—that you said something bad about them in secret, it destroys the single element on which friendships are based: trust. And once trust has been abolished, many, if not most, relationships will never recover from that trauma.
So instead of gossiping about someone, make one of two choices. Either keep the matter silent, or go directly to the
person and talk with them about it. While it may seem easier to talk about others behind their backs than doing either of these, gossip is much more destructive in the long run. So make the choice to preserve trust by refraining from gossip.

Prayer Challenge
Pray that God would give you the strength to refrain from participating in gossip. Ask Him to bless your relationships by keeping them built on trust.

Questions for Thought
Can you remember a time in your life when someone gossiped about you? How did it make you feel?
Is there someone in your life that you need to have a hard conversation with so that you’re not tempted to gossip?

HUMOR OF THE DAY:
A couple of elderly men were venting their frustrations about the woes of modern technology.
"I just can't ever seem to remember my darn passwords," grumbled one of them.
The other one smiled. "Oh really? I can never forget mine!"
"How do you manage it?" asked the first guy curiously.
"Well, I simply set all my passwords to 'Incorrect' so that whenever I'm told that my password is incorrect, I'll remember it!"

An elderly man visited the doctor for a checkup. "Mr. Smith, you’re in great shape," said the doctor afterward. "How do you do it?"
"Well," said Mr. Smith, "I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, and the good Lord looks out for me. For weeks now, every time I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he turns the light on for me."
Concerned, the doctor found Mrs. Smith in the waiting room and told her what her husband had said.
"I don’t think that’s anything to worry about," she said. "And on the bright side, it does explain who’s been peeing in the fridge."

CHILDREN’S PRAYERS:

3-year-old James: "Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."

One particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
