NWYM is a Christ-centered, discerning, inter-generational community of Friends, committed to discipleship and outreach to impact society locally and globally.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for helping us have a wonderful conference this past week! We hope you were encouraged, were able to connect with new Friends and renew existing relationships, learn from the different equipping workshops, and carry back to your local church an excitement to be in mission with Christ.

2019 Session Information

Brockie Follette is a Certified “Growing Young” Presenter for the Fuller Youth Institute, with a special focus on the Friends Church. She is passionate about helping students to live Godly lives in their cultures and contexts, while also helping local churches discover how to reach, keep, and engage youth and young adults as a part of their church family. Brockie was featured as a workshop speaker each morning and as a guest in Tuesday evening's sessions.

Jim Le Shana is the Superintendent of Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church. He is convinced that the best days for the Friends Church are still ahead, but that many of us today may need a “fresh vision” – to see ourselves, the world, the needs, and the opportunities around us with greater hope and clarity from God’s perspective. Jim served as our primary speaker in the evening sessions.

Highlights from the Week

Equipping Workshops

Thank you for each of the workshop leaders and their investment into the conference. We had great participation with an average of 36 people in attendance at each workshop!

We are collecting resources from each of the workshops, so be on the lookout for these materials!

Passing of Friends

Dave Green of Tigard Community Friends Church passed away on 7/31/19. Dave served his church in many ways, was an active member of the Board of Trustees at George Fox University, and most recently on the Trustees Committee for NWYM. The memorial service for Dave Green is on Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tigard Community Friends Church, 15800 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR.
