Up, Up and Away

As some of you know, I’m away on vacation right now.

I’m taking the kids on an epic train journey across Canada.

It’s quite far as you can imagine but it’s cheaper and easier than driving AND it lets me spend time together with them.

Especially when the WiFi isn’t working because we’re in a spot with no cell phone towers.

Early in the morning on our second day, we were crossing Quebec when people started pointing out hot air balloons on the horizon.

I’ve never been in one.

I’ve seen them at festivals before though and I know there are hot air balloon clubs in different places.

I wondered how much it cost to get into this?

A quick Google search showed that a small two-person balloon could cost about $22,000 and if you want a pilot and several passengers you could easily spend $50,000 not including the ground support and chase vehicle.

It’s just as expensive as sailing.

So, what do you think?

You know what I think?

If you wanted to be a balloonist, you could put your company logo on the balloon and make it a business advertising expense.

I guess you’ll need a business for that.
