I have been thinking about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
We do have choices in our own lives and communities, even though they sometimes feel buried away somewhere. This is when the adage comes to mind, "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." This is literally the choice we all are faced with daily.
