August 4, 2019

It's August!

For some that means back-to-school sales, but for us it means two great celebrations of our Blessed Mother: The Assumption and Queenship. For all that we don't concretely know about these mysteries, the precise details that is, we can still profit greatly by just contemplating what we can witness in them.

In a sense, it's the perfection and fulfillment of her vocation to follow Christ entirely. Catholics can sometimes forget, owing to over-familiarity, that Mary wasn't just Jesus' mother, but his best and most faithful disciple. All that our Lord promised to his true followers, their own bodily resurrections at the end of time, was to be seen in Mary's Assumption. Taken to Jesus, body and soul, now she reigns as Queen interceding as a mother for us, her children too.

St. Jean Vianney Feastday

The 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time fell on August 4th, usually the Feastday of Saint Jean Vianney, patron saint of all priests. Consider reading the Holy Father’s letter to all priests that day and more so, join us as we pray for our priests. Don’t forget to thank them too.
We are praying for all the Knights of Columbus as they gather for this week’s convention in Minneapolis, MN. We thank God for all their great work in and for the Church!
Pray for Priests!
Please pray with us for these priests of the Diocese of Erie!

Donate Needed Items from our
Amazon Wish List
To our generous friends and benefactors whom we are so grateful for. We have noticed that some of the prices of non-perishable staples have been rising on Amazon and Amazon Prime but lowering on Amazon Prime Pantry (which does not have wish lists). If an item is too expensive on our Amazon list, you may be able to find it lower on Pantry or go to our Walmart Wish List. We share with you Saint Paul's kind admonition that no one impoverish themselves to aid others. (cf. 2 Cor 8:13)
