DATES TO REMEMBER:
CLUB FIELD TRIP AUGUST 10TH

In addition to the email last week, I also want to add a few documents for you to read and review, and quick a 20 minute YouTube video for you to watch. The video is about nighttime photography workshop etiquette. I found it online while looking for some inspiration and thought it was a good one to watch. If you don't want to listen to the entire video, fast forward to 19:20. The documents are 1) a refresher "how-to" for night photography, and 2) a night photography etiquette reminder.

I can't stress this enough to practice proper etiquette when out shooting in a group. So please, click the links for the video and documents and please review them before arriving Saturday night.

As far as location, that is an Ancient Chinese Secret! Will be revealed that night in the parking lot. It will be in the Everglades. Please meet at the Ernest Coe Visitor's Center parking lot by no later than 7pm. We will be caravaning to the location just after 7. Sunset is at 8pm. That will give us plenty of time to find a composition and get our lenses prepared and focused to infinity before dark. Shoot some blue hour, and then shoot into the night. For all of you die-hard night photographers, the moon sets at 3:30am if you would like to practice some moon photography.

All of this info will also be on our website link HERE

Don't forget, RSVP

Every year we make an attempt to go out and photograph the Perseid meteor shower. Each year we end up with some difficult situation. This year will be no exception. In years past we've dealt with too many clouds, late night storms, and the moon. Well, we will definitely have the moon to contend with this year. Unfortunately, I can't tell the moon and stars what to do, so we'll need to work with the conditions we have.

So yes, the full moon is just a few days away from our field trip. Which means we'll have a pretty bright moon on that day. And that means we won't be able to see many of the smaller meteors. Which, if you think about it, don't make for good photos anyway. The larger, burning meteors will still be visible and hopefully will make their way into our field of view!  Now, on the plus side, having a near-full moon will brighten up our foreground. Yay! So perhaps this near-full moon isn't such a hindrance after all, hmm?

As always, I am asking that those who are planning on attending to RSVP so we know how many to plan for. The more people that come, the more room we need to spread out and that will affect the location we shoot. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Click HERE to send us an email, and click the header above to visit the event page on our website.
Cauley Square Art Show!

The SFNPCC has decided to rent a spot for the Nov. 24th "Hidden Treasures of South Florida" Art Show at Cauley Square. The show is from 10am till 5pm.

We need all members who are interested in selling their work in the show to sign up. Just so you know up front, ONLY SERIOUS SELLERS RESPOND PLEASE. You will be responsible for all printing costs, all matting, all packaging, and you MUST be there during the show to set up, sell your art, and tear down. We will be deciding on a maximum size for prints very soon.

If you are interested in getting involved, please
RSVP
to us here and let us know.

If you are interested in having your OWN booth, please feel free to contact me by clicking the RSVP link above, and I'll give you the promoters information.

Thanks!
Do you have older used equipment you'd like to get rid of? Maybe it's an old lens, camera, any other photography equipment lying around that you don't use anymore? We've decided to allow selling on our private facebook group. If you go to the group, click on the "More" tab, then click "sell something" you can list your item for sale. But be sure to click on the club name, not the "MARKETPLACE" button. If you do it'll be listed on the whole marketplace site. Then you never know who you'll be dealing with on the other end. But if you don't mind, then by all means, click the MARKETPLACE button.
We will also be putting up any items you would like to sell on our website for those who don't use Facebook. We'll put them on our Login tab so people can see what's there, but be hidden from the general public. If you would like us to list your items, please send me all of your info, item, price, condition, photos, contact info. And I'll put it up.
Click here to email me your listing.
Those are all of the updates I have for August. Hope to see you at our events. Have a great month!
