On Mondays we start the week with a daily Examen reflection and prayer. This can be done a the beginning of the day, the end of the day or both.

"The Daily Examen is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to detect God’s presence and discern his direction for us. The Examen is an ancient practice in the Church that can help us see God’s hand at work in our whole experience." source

Yielding Fruit In Season
“They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper.” Psalm 1:3
1) In reflecting on my day, where do I see that I am fearfully and wonderfully made? In what ways did God form me wonderfully? (Psalm 139:13-14)

2) Jesus illustrated that to follow him, one must first count the cost. What cost have I paid today to follow him? How did it feel to pay that price? What benefit did I receive from following Jesus today? How did it feel to receive that benefit? (Luke 14:26-33)

3) What opportunities today did I have to share my faith with others? What opportunities did others take to share their faith with me? (Philemon 1:6)

4) Psalm 1:3 tells us that the righteous are like trees which yield their fruit in season. What season am I in spiritually? Is it a time of rest, new life, growth, or harvest?

A few more Examen steps to practice:
1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions.
4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
5. Look toward tomorrow.
