July 2019 Special Bulletin

Record in BC opens today! 

The Record in BC stream of the Career Development program is designed to attract established out-of-province and international artists to BC studios, and create jobs for BC recording professionals.

Applications are open now until November 30, 2019, or until all funds are disbursed. Applications will be reviewed at the end of each month.

Join Creative BC staff and learn about the Record in BC program and how to apply. We look forward to answering all of your questions!

This session is for recording studios and record producers using funding to attract new clients, and for artists, and record labels and management representing out-of-province artists, interested in recording in BC. 

Info sessions will be held on: 
  • Monday, August 19 at 6:30 PM | In person at Creative BC
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 12 noon PST | Online

MEET OUR FUNDING RECIPIENTS

The First Peoples' Cultural Council is hosting a one-day Indigenous music, arts and culture festival on August 24th in Victoria B.C. Indigifest is a family-friendly event that will feature Indigenous musicians from across B.C., along with interactive workshops, an Indigenous marketplace and children's area. 

The evening main stage will feature Snotty Nose Rez Kids, a Haisla hip-hop duo from Kitimat, who have been nominated for the 2019 Polaris Prize. Snotty Nose Rez Kids attended last year’s Indigenous Music Retreat along with the other musicians who will be performing, including Curtis Clearsky and the Constellationz, Lola Parks, Norine Braun, Niska Napoleon, Ms. Panik, Mamarudegyal, Hope and others. Victoria's Illvis Freshly released their single and video for “Back it Up” in June. The band consists of two emcees, a live guitarist, a live drummer, and a DJ / singer.
