What have we been up to this week?

Hello there! Welcome to the 72nd ScourgeBringer open development newsletter issue!

Previously on ScourgeBringer: we introduced the Altars of Blood system (temporary upgrades) to finish Alpha 3, and already started to work on Alpha 4 (which will include the skill tree).

Before we discuss last week progress, today is a release day!

ScourgeBringer Alpha 3 is now available to all testers! 💥⚔

This new alpha adds a fast travel system and the Altars of Blood, which will grant new powers to Kyhra. It also addresses a bunch of feedback.

Here's the full change log:

Back to last week! We continued working on the hub world and the permanent skill tree. Florian has been doing a marvelous job on creating a very eerie hub world. So eerie that I'm hesitating to share the full preview of it just yet. Let's build some surprise. =P

On my side, I've been implementing some skills and started working on the skill tree interface. It's going pretty smoothly.

The Alpha 4 will be quite a milestone, the game will mostly be feature complete from there. But that will be distilled throughout this month's next newsletters. So see you next week for progress on the skill tree!

Cheers,
Thomas

How is our budget doing?

Every week, we update our production budget based on our initial budget and our ongoing revenues.

ScourgeBringer budget is counted in "months of subsistence" instead of money. We believe that it is a more understandable way to explain how budgets are constructed and consumed.

Our remaining budget is: 8.99 months (39.08 weeks)*

  • So far, we consumed -16.79 months (-73 weeks) from working of this project;
  • And we consumed -1.22 months (-5.30 weeks) from investing (e.g. buying hardware, paying for services...);
  • We also earned back +15.00 months (+65.21 weeks) from our ongoing revenues (e.g. NeuroVoider & Boo! Greedy Kid sales, contract work...).

Our initial budget for ScourgeBringer was 12 months when we started.

For a more detailed breakdown of our budget construction, you can refer to the first issue of this newsletter.
*1 week = 0.23 month (based on a 365-day year and a 7-day week)
